The erotic poetry of the Biblical Song of Solomon inspired the masters of the continental Renaissance to some of their most ardent music. Love, desire and seduction are here explored in a rich selection of motets by Spanish composers and composers associated with Spain, tracing an expressive arch from the heat and intensity of Gombert and Lhéritier to the vivacious conclusion in the works of Vivanco and Victoria. Stile Antico is an ensemble of young British singers, now established as one of the most original and exciting new voices in its field.
