Music by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), St Michael’s Church,
Lower Machen Red Priest is one of the major success stories on the international Early Music scene today. Named after the flame-haired priest, Antonio Vivaldi, this extraordinary English ensemble has re-defined the art of baroque music performance, combining the fruits of extensive research with swashbuckling virtuosity, creative re-composition, heart-on-sleeve emotion and compelling stagecraft. The group has now turned its attention to Bach with a programme with a title stolen from David Bowie, their performance strikes a balance between the commercialism of ‘pop-Bach’ and the austerity of ‘authentic’ Bach to create a new sort of ‘rockchamber-Bach’. Not recommended for the purists! With the support of the Colwinston Charitable Trust Tickets £12.50 & £10.50 (Concessions) |
