Daytime concerts

This year the Festival will be presenting four short concerts during the day – a great opportunity for those of you who find it difficult to get out in the evenings to enjoy a taste of the Festival spirit.

Tuesday 20 June, 10.30am
Machen Library
Mavron String Quartet
The Cardiff-based Mavron Quartet have become one of Wales’ most hotly-tipped chamber groups in the last couple of years. They make their first visit to the Lower Machen Festival with music by Mendelssohn and other light favourites.

Wednesday 21 June, 11.30am
Ystrad Mynach Library
Haberfield-Jones Guitar Duo
Simple, strong and direct - virtuosic arrangements of Jazz classics and new music from two of South Wales' finest guitar players.

Thursday 22 June, 11.30am
White Rose Resource Centre, New Tredegar
Stephen Bingham (violin)
A colourful programme of music from Bach to Piazzolla, folk tunes from Hungary and Norway and Lost In Hollywood – an arrangement of a song by 70s rock group Rainbow, given on acoustic and electric violins by the leader of the Lower Machen Festival’s resident Bingham Quartet.

The concerts on 20, 21 & 22 June are promoted in partnership with Caerphilly County Borough Council's Music and Arts and Library Services

Saturday 24 June, 11.30am
