Daytime concerts

This year, for the first time, the Festival will be presenting three short concerts during the day – a great opportunity for those of you who find it difficult to get out in the evenings to enjoy a taste of the Festival spirit.

Admission to all concerts is FREE.

Tuesday 21 June 11.30am
Machen Library
Stephen Bingham (Violin)

A colourful programme of music from Bach to Piazzolla given on acoustic and electric violins and the Norwegian folk fiddle by the leader of the Bingham Quartet.

Thursday 23 June 11.30am
Ystrad Mynach Library
Phil & Maggie

Phil and Maggie Tomkins (violin & accordion) are both classically trained, but their taste is anything but classical. Any good tune runs the risk of being hijacked and played - whether it comes from Macedonia, Florida, Brittany, Turkey, Buenos Aires or County Cork.

Saturday 25 June 11.30am
St. Michael’s Church, Lower Machen
Composer Portrait: Enid Luff

Enid Luff, one of Wales’ most versatile composers celebrates her 70th birthday this year. Lower Machen are delighted to be hosting this short concert, given by the Welsh Music Guild, as part of their Golden Jubilee celebrations, in which Enid Luff talks about her life and work together with performances of several short pieces played by members of PM Ensemble.

These library concerts are promoted in partnership with Caerphilly County Borough Council's Arts Department and Library Services.
