The Bingham String Quartet return to Lower Machen with a typically varied programme including Mozart’s sparkling Hunt Quartet, the elegant but profoundly emotional quartet by Ravel, and we mark the centenary of Sir Michael Tippett’s birth with one of his best-loved works – the Second Quartet, full of lyrical radiant energy and springing rhythms that recall the Elizabethan madrigal composers. We are also glad to welcome back Eric Wetherell who celebrates his 80th birthday this year and whose music was heard at the 2002 Festival.
